Hello!

​

My name is Hannah and I opened Chestnut Studio in 2016, after working as a Primary School teacher in Leeds for eight years & moving back to Carlisle from West Yorkshire, to be nearer family as my Dad had fallen ill.

 

Although born and bred in Carlisle, I  spent ten years or so living in West Yorkshire, where I initially studied Graphic Design and purchased my first 'proper' camera while at University. After the most amazing year travelling, exploring the world, experiencing amazing and unforgettable things (and meeting my husband!) I returned to the UK and went back to University.

This time, I jumped into the busy world of teaching! 

 

I decided to specialise in newborn, baby and child portrait photography.

My years of experience in the classroom have taught me how to get the very best out of children, while making sure they have fun at the same time.

Before deciding to turn my passion into my profession, I completed a photography course at the Leeds College of Art and, more importantly, a specialist training course in newborn portraiture with BANPAS. It was very important for me that I had the right training and knowledge of safely handling newborns in the studio, so parents could relax and enjoy the sessions.

I recently had my third baby & moved into my brand new studio space.
